Patio season in Vancouver usually starts around mid-May. It is the best dining section for many Vancouverites who love to soak up the sun while enjoying their favorite summer food and cold beverages. Joe Fortes Seafood and Chop House has been serving great delicious food for almost 30 years. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver just off the busy Robson St, this iconic establishment is beautifully furnished inside in such a classical timeless way, yet it surprises even the trendiest of us all with its airy rooftop patio.

Joe Fortes Happy Hour

One thing about Joe Fortes is the amazing and delicious happy hour menu from 4pm to 6pm daily. It is perhaps one of the best valued happy hour menus thus far. Each dish is a comfortable appetizer size. Servers would encourage guests to start off with 3 to 4 dishes and can order more later on.

Some of the must try dishes includes the incredible Buck a Shuck fresh oysters. Served ice cold on the half shell, it keeps the oyster fresh to the taste. It is certainly one of the most ordered dish during the happy hour.

The mini lobster and shrimp rolls is another refreshing cold dish. Chopped seafood meat mixed with a mayonnaise sauce with a touch of lime juice and cilantro. Although it says mini, it is not. If this is a shared dish, one roll is already somewhat filling.

The prawn tacos are a surprise. Spiced prawns with a sante fe spice served on two soft tacos, layered with house special chipotle mayo. For those who do not like spice food, this dish is not as spicy as the menu describes, but do bring enough flavour to the taste. Best to consider also ordering a cold beverage of choice to go with this dish if it does gets too spicy for some.

A classic beef capriccio served with fresh arugula and a generous portion of aged parmesan cheese, and capers. Another great cold dish for the hot summer season even though this is another stable favorites of the guests of Joe Fortes.
