Getting to finally sit down for a meal is always something to look forward to after a long journey. After driving over 400 KM from Northern Quesnel BC and finally reaching Kamloops, I was in need of a relaxing cold beer to cool down from the 38 degrees heat of the interior BC. A quick map search for nearly restaurants had led me to The Noble Pig, newly opened and just a few minutes’ drive from the Kamloops Sandman Signature Hotel.
About The Noble Pig
The Noble Pig’s is more than just a restaurant. It has its own onsite brewing facility that creates unique one of a kind beers using high quality Kamloops water. Tours to the brewing space is available depending on the brewing schedule. The lobby of the facility first leads to a spacious pub section with multiple TV screens installed by the bar are. The staff led me to the dining room area where it also leads to the back patio section. Due to the hot weather I preferred to stay inside to enjoy some cool air condition and shade.
Craft Beers at The Noble Pig
The Noble Pig have four craft brews available from larger to porter to choose from. The hot weather had prompt me to choose a lighter more refreshing Munich Helles Larger. It was a golden yellow brew and a well-balanced blend of hops and malt.
The Menu at The Noble Pig
The menu consists of a good selection of dining options. From shared plates to bar snacks and a few international inspired dishes such as Jambalaya, Pad Thai, and curry, it seems like they have quite an international menu. The Noble Pig have a special section dedicated to poutine as well. It is certainly a great pairing for beer drinkers to snack on.
I decided to order a Southwest Pulled Pork Sandwich. It came with a choice of salad, soup or fries. The dish arrived at just the right temperature. The Pulled Pork was well flavoured and juicy. The bun was a good texture of warmth and has some seeds baked with it. The coleslaw was mixed in with some kernel corn, adding to the sweetness of the dish. A surprising few slices of back bacon was also in the combo, giving it a delicious crunchy taste for the whole experience. A generous portion of fries was sprinkled with some chilli seasoning that adds to the BBQ taste of the meal.
I would look forward to coming back to The Noble Pig on my next visit. A mocha porter, brewmaster’s plate appetizer and the Jambalaya with fresh mussels, clams, prawns, chicken, chorizo, tomato, rice and their Cajun holy trinity. How long drives makes a person very hungry……
